That's what the nice lady doing my NICS check told the guy at the gun show the other day. That was my first one of those. I have to admit I was waiting for that other shoe but she came back and said "Proceed" so all was right in the end. All the same....

I expected that it would happen at some point and I'm sure it will happen again. It's still an uneasy feeling.

I rarely ever buy guns at gunshows because i get the further review 4 out of 5 times. The elephant dung thing is nobody Will give me a reason for it when I ask.

Friend of mine bought several guns are a gun show no problem. Then the first time he tried to buy from a local store he got a hold and had to wait two weeks before they would release his gun. Go figure ...

My NICS experience has been from one extreme to the other. I'm Henry 22LR I was put on hold waited about 20 minutes shooting the s#$t with the owner got tired went home about the time I got comfortable phone rings your rifles ready.

SR40c roughly on hold for 8 hours.

Sig522 the background check was cleared before I could finish my paperwork.

I think it depends on how many guns are being sold at any given moment. My SR40c was bought on a friday. Sig522 was bought on a Tuesday.

I asked the dealer if he knew of any reason that circulated in that community as to why a guy with a squeaky clean criminal record might get one he just said "Most likely there's a guy with your name who has a problem." They've liked me every other time I've gone in and I'm doing it again tomorrow so we'll see.

Yeah they told me the same thing so I googled my name. There are hundreds of guys that have my same name. So I can understand that.

There is some NICS View attachment 2473paperwork you can fill out and it will assign you a number that will be your number forever and then you put that number down whenever you fill out your paper work when buying a gun and then you will never get a delay again.

Good info feegee! I know there may be some out there that are paranoid about filling out government forms, but after a military career, and filing taxes every year, there is not much they don't already know.
Every gun that I've ever bought has been sold though.

Isn't that the truth? Between EOD school via a Top Secret clearance, the DNA sample they made us give in 1993 and the last two decades' worth of tax returns they pretty much have my number. Speaking of that, I put my social on the 4473 and I'm thinking that's the one thing that got me that "proceed" after a few minutes of "further review". This is good info, Feegee. Thanks.

My IRL name is incredibly common so I get "further review" every time. It just adds a few seconds so nbd. I've never been delayed, which would actually be a pain.
