What's the difference between Freedom Munitions Pro Match 9mm Luger 124 grain HP New (FMS9H124N) and their standard 9mm Luger 124 grain HP New (FM9H124N). The profile pics are the same and the confusing part is that the standard ammo says its used for competition shooting. Both have the same velocity.

I want to use this ammo for 3 gun.

Thanks

I realize my answer was short but look at it this way, you can load 9mm for something like 110-120 per thousand. Look at what loaded pistol ammo costs and you can pay for a decent reloading setup after maybe 5-6 thousand rounds if you shop around.

That price delta only gets bigger with 40 and 45.

I do t know what the difference is but that pro match is really expensive.

My suggestion would be to buy a few hundred rounds of it as well as some 115 & 147gr Ammo from T1 Ammunition and Atlanta Arms Ammunition and see which shoots best in your gun. I've shot a bunch of Atlanta Arms 147gr reman which is now called "select" and it's been great. I just started testing some T1 ammo and it's as good only cheaper.

Here are a few discount codes for each brand.

FM - Apxb2016
T1 - JesseT5
AA - Matt123

Here is one article I found with a quick google search. Doesn't say a whole lot, but you can buy such little amounts of both and test for yourself, that it really might be worth it to see what your gun likes best..

T1 is making some pretty loud noise in 3-gun and from what I understand, theirs stuff is excellent. AA has been in the game for a long time and they have proven world champions that represent their product. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them..

Apples to Apples reloading versus buying looks a lot like this.. (Buying 1000 rounds of 124jhp re-manufactured rounds (because that what reloads are too) versus rolling your own with the same components FM uses)

Press - $1250 (Dillon 650 with casefeeder, strong mount, dies, scale, calipers, boxes, (cheap) bench, etc)
Brass - $20/1000 for 9mm range pickup
Primers - $30/1000 Can be cheaper but you usually have to order them and pay hazmat, etc)
Powder - $25/pound (7000 grains total divided by 3.5gr/round = 2,000 rounds/pound or $12.50/1000)
Bullets - $95.74/1000 ($47.87/500) Not using bulk pricing because we are comparing apples to apples buying 1000 at a time

Total for the first 1000 rounds (provided press comes completely setup and no primers/bullets/powder is wasted on setup) = $1408.74

How many rounds you need to load to break even so the cost can be compared based on $158.74/1000 compared to the $203.20 for the Freedom equivalent = 28,116 rounds before you are at even money..

Sure, buying components to reload in bulk will save you some greenbacks, but reloading is not necessarily the answer for everyone.. My costs are even a little less than GT's example so it's totally worth it for me..

But on another note, by reloading, I was able to shoot clear through the last scare that the pres was going to take away all of our guns and ammo.. Folks that rely on purchasing ammo had a hard time. Come November, who knows whats going to happen?

Could easily be done within 1-2 years of practice & shooting matches, especially if you're loading it.

Loading ammo won't save you any money. The money saved per round is spent on the amount of more rounds you'll shoot.
Damn it would take me 10 years to shoot that many rounds! 😜😜🙏🏼

When that stuff first came out I ordered some, along with some of their 147gr. FMJ and a few other brands including Atlanta Arms and Stand 1. I thought "wow, this stuff will make me a better shooter!". What I found was that all the rounds were VERY similar in accuracy, and it did not make me a better shooter. The 147gr. Freedom was the softest shooting in my gun (XdM 5.25), and the cheapest! What HAS made me a better shooter is buying more of the 147gr at a cheaper price and shooting more. And yes, I do plan on reloading in the future, but for now it's the reman FM 147gr. for me.

I just ordered 500 rounds of the new manf Freedom 124gr RN. I will let you know how it shoots.
Damn I could have made you a local pickup deal on some of the promatch stuff. I have a few rounds lying around.
