"As of right now, the NFA Branch in Martinsburg, West Virginia is reporting an average turnaround time for a Form 1 or 4 to be pushing seven months. This is mostly attributed to the surge in suppressor ownership, with suppressors now making up almost 70% of all transfer requests. The tide does not seem to be diminishing, so NFA Branch has secured assistance..."

I spoke with a guy that builds suppressors about the turn around time from the BATFE for tax stamps. He said they had 11 people working in the office that processes our forms for suppressors, SBRs, etc. One of them retired, so they had 10 functioning for the ENTIRE country. It's no wonder the turn around time is as long as it is. And honestly, I'm kind of glad, because it keeps the wrong folks from owning weapons and accessories they shouldn't.

Hopefully that previous post is correct when it says they have "secured assistance..." but who knows what that means for us. I've got one form that's been in the works for 5 months, and am about to initiate another.

I just got two back that were 7.5 months. I am telling this to customers and its not slowing them down. I also got two forms back last month that involved trusts. Heather thompson at NFA told me directly that they had a huge meeting on trust requirements and they had a huge crackdown. I had to redo 2 trusts because they didn't meet their minimum requirements for trust name. My trust lawyer is pissed but it is what it is. She also told me the times of home made trusts are coming to an end also.

Henry,

PM or Email me with the types of corrections needed on the Trusts.. just in case I'm next, I'll be prepared.

Thanks!

Charles

+1, but why keep this valuable info private? If you know what the problem is, would you mind sharing it with the rest of us Trust applicants?

Just received a form 4 which took 6 and a half months. It was kicked back for a correction on line 4d (Model) which I'm guessing added the 2 weeks.
Sad thing is the correction is incorrect since the model was right as submitted. Guess they had their records wrong and wanted to keep it that way!
