As a parent, I feel really bad about the football player from OU dying from a drug overdose.
Its a terrible day for them, and they have my deepest sympathy.

Today, there have been over a dozen of the same incidents among people that are not football players from OU.
Why is this headline news :(

simple it is called supply and demand... the answer to this question is the same for pretty much everything in the media, it is what the public wants, it is not like the media talks/writes about things that no one cares about, if they did then they would go out of business...
 
It's headline news because he is a celebrity. Painkillers are really dangerous. Austin had seriously considered giving up football due to his back problems this past spring, even though he was going to be the starting MLB for the #1 ranked team in the country. That shows how much pain he was in. Really sad.
 
Dennis- A lot of us had high hopes for this young man in his brief time with us. And projected our selves on to him in hopes that we could ... damn it, I got nothing.
