Fishing Lake Hefner?

I was wondering if anyone has any experience fishing lake Hefner? I recently moved closer and have never fished it before. I would be fishing from the bank mostly with artificial lures...I like catching anything I usually don't keep much.

I have never caught a lot of fish or very big fish, but there are those that do. It has quite a few walleye and catfish. I don't know if it too late this year but when the sand bass start running fish at the Overholster canal. Catfish off the jetty by the golf course, there used to be a fishing dock on that side also. People would catch crappie there.

I saw a program about fishing on lake Hefner on the Outdoor Oklahoma TV show. Check with the tackle shop at the lake, and look at the fishing reports on the site, wildlifedepartment.com

The sandbass should be running right now.
