Hadn't shot a rifle match in a very long time, went to Oil Capitol today and had a blast!

Please critique me and tell me what to work on!

Stage 1, all targets had to have one to the head. Start with an empty gun.

Stage 3 (my cameraman failed stage 2....) all targets in center had to be shot with pistol.

This was a fun stage!

Longer range stage, some shooting on the move, threw extra rounds just in case.

I don't think im taticool enough to go to this match. I dont have a drop leg holster or a tatical vest.

Lol, the first time (read only time) I went to this match I wore a drop leg holster. Man I so ATAS back then.

Well, I would much rather shoot some of the 3 gun matches, or some of the rifle matches like at USSA, but this was what I had an opportunity to do, so some trigger time is better than none.

Hoping to plan a trip to the OKC area around one of the matches yall shoot, may have to borrow a shotgun, and hope yall won't mind my noobish gear.

Hmmm...I may have to see If I can tag along with you on that trip Kevin - sounds like fun! Plus, keep in mind that I'll make you look even less "noobish"!

Looked pretty good from here.

You used 3-4 different shooting postitions to shoot around those barrels. Find the one that works best and use it a lot. When you where shooting onthe move you started fast and slowed way down. I'm not sure if the targets got smaller or what but I noticed you stood al the way up straight as you slowed down. The lower you get crouched the more you can absorb the bounce and let yoursel roll your feet heel to toe and keep shooting.

Work on slowing down, prepping and pressing the trigger on the pistol especially after the high adrenaline of running the carbine.

All in all you shot pretty well. How did the scores turn out?

I came in fourth, the score sheet is posted on the match thread, but I saved it as an image and can post it here later.

So you weren't really looking for critique you were lookign for praise? Nice shooting!

Ha! not hardly, I know a lot of serious shooters were not at this match who used to shoot it a while back. (Jerry, Lance, Marshall, Myrus and some others) and I compete against myself, and try to get better. I know some areas I could have improved on, like on the stage with the star I only missed two shots on the star (I think) but threw extra rounds at the cardboard with my pistol because it needed headshots and I wasn't confident in my hits. I did the same thing on stage 3 with my carbine, and on stage 4. I threw a lot of extra lead because I didn't trust my hits. Part of it I would like to blame on the fact that I hadn't shot with that scope before. On the handgun, there is no excuse for the "make up" shots that were not needed. I fumbled a reload on one stage, so I should have practiced that more. I had never thought about my positions when kneeling at the barrels, but it does make sense that I need to have a specific way to shoot from kneeling rather than just improvising.

I do appreciate the critique! as rarely as I shoot these, I want to get the most out of each one.
