I am in the same boat as P-1! My wife and I both took our courses by the same person and were told that CCW in banks are a big no go! Obviously I avoid banks at all cost because of that! This is a very interesting and informative thread.

People need to read the actual statutes for themselves. No CCW instructor, cop, or guy from an internet forum will be there for you when you either (A) get busted for violating a gun free zone or (B) get gunned down by a perp because you disarmed when you didn't have to.

People also need to realize that with training sometimes you get what you pay for. Bargain basement trainers that charge fifty bucks often provide fifty bucks of service. Which is fine for some folks that just want to "check the box" or who are capable of checking the details on their own...

Also, there is not a blanket prohibition on carrying on federal property (which private banks are not). For example, National Parks are g2g.

i guess they arent National parks cause the parks with SC DNR watching dont allow firearms.

and you cant take anything from there. i was trying out my gold sluce and a game warden came up. he told me if i found gold i would have to throw it back because it belongs to everyone. :lol:

I don't know (or care) if my bank has any signs.

They do, however, have a sally port with remote-controlled entry, cameras and a metal detector inside the sally port.

I would imagine that deters robbery more than any sign on a window.

South Coast has that in Mount Pleasant right off Johnny Dodds. The problem is that the other main entrance to the bank, on the main level, is a standard door. It may be locked, but easily kicked in. The windows on the first floor are standard windows. I have a broken back and essentially a broken neck, and when I go there to pay my mortgage, it's a pain to open those doors.
