first AR-15

I'm considering picking up my first AR-15. I'd like to build one at some point, but for now I think I just want to buy one. Do any of you experienced with this type of rifle have a recommendation for a first purchase?

Maybe you should wait, and come to SHootzenfest..Shoot different ones and see what you like.
I am going to bring 3 AR's...and I know there will be others..

You can look at the different ones, and maybe that will help you decide....

Oh, absolutely! I won't be rushing to buy one, I'm just starting the process of research and gathering opinions. I'm sure one of the highlights of Shootzenfest will be the ARs... seems a lot of you are addicted, which is awesome for me.

I guess I'm just wondering if there are any brands which stand out as a good first purchase, or any I should probably stay away from. The only AR I've ever fired was a Bushmaster; it was a lot of fun, but I didn't get to spend enough time with it to learn very much.

In any case, I plan to be at Shootzenfest and look forward to learning quite a bit.
