Federal Champion vs American Eagle – Any Real Difference?

I've been seeing both Federal Champion and American Eagle on shelves lately when I'm picking up .45 ACP, and honestly… I can't tell what the difference is. Champion is usually a little cheaper, but is it of lower quality? Or just a different label for the same stuff?

I've run a couple of boxes of both through my 1911 but didn't notice much. Curious if anyone here has had issues, preferences, or insight. Is one cleaner than the other? Or are they basically the same for range use?

Appreciate any feedback—just trying to learn.

I've shot a fair bit of both through my Springfield and honestly can't tell a huge difference other than price. Champion might be a little dirtier, but both have been reliable enough for range work in my experience.

If it's just range ammo, go with what's cheaper.

I agree with BB. Champion is a little dirtier, but I'm OCD about cleaning my 1911's anyway.
