Cow hunt. I wanted to do a bull hunt, but NM only allows them before Jan1.
It will be good eating though. Its still not an easy hunt getting a 400 lb animal down the mountain, and across some small canyons.
This area has a mountain lion and black bear season. Its interesting to follow some lion tracks in the snow right next to a mule deer track. Did that two years ago, seeing two of the lions on a deer track. When they disappeared into the dark timber, I backed off.
God, I love that country.

Yes elk meat is the ultimate. After having elk it is hard to go back eating plain deer venison.

No, the hunt is in jan 2014. It will be going on at the same time as my 25th wedding anniversary.
So from now on, I can be referred to as "the great negotiator".
I did just get in from a great dove hunt with some new friends. Shot sporting clays this morning, and dove hunted the evening.
