When you take it apart, if the white plastic thing on the back is cracked, you need a new buffer and that will probably solve your problems... oh, and a good detail clean. 
Looks like midway could get me buffer spring and extracter all for about $25 + $3-5 on shipping. I may order and replace all while i have it apart.
Have you taken one apart before? Might need some help from what i read on midway.
