Since I've moved here I've mostly shot my AR's and handguns. In the mean time I have other stuff that's just been holding down the carpet in the safe. Among them are my SKS and PAP M70.
Yesterday that changed when Tigerstripe and I went to Philsons. I took the Eastern Block Stuff out for the first time since late 2012. In fact this was only the third trip to the range for the M70 since I got it. I bought it in NY the September before NY lost it's mind. After which I relocated them out of NY. Along with myself, my whole family, and our tax dollars etc. Anyway I digress but suffice it to say the range trip was well overdue. Not to mention a boatload of fun.
I have to say it was a lot of fun. Strangely as a shooter I actually prefer the SKS over the AK as a shooter. It just seems to feel better to me. Now all I have to do is resist the temptation to sell the M70 to fund an AR build LOL. I doubt it would bring enough to make it worth it anyway.
Right after I got here I picked up some plastic AK mags that have never been used. I tried one yesterday and they did work fine but they seem harder to get to seat properly than the steel ones. I think I will stick to the steel mags going forward. It also likes FMJ a lot more than the Tula hollow points I accidentally bought. I just put them through the SKS.
