Kirk, when you find someone let me know also. I need to get another set in a neutral color. Bright yellow and orange doesn't work to well for coyote hunting. I had the EarInc guy that was on here make mine at a gunshow in the city. But I don't know if he's still on here or even in okc anymore.

Contact Al Shackleford of OKCGC. He makes them for $40 pair. I'm sure he will be there at the next swap meet. Also, he attends guns shows. These are the best ear plugs I have ever used. I have seen vendors at shows selling the same thing for up to $100 per pair.

He will make them any colour you want, so you won't spook color blind coyotes looking into your ear canals ;)

He lives in Mustang and his phone number is 405-324-7204.

Tally ho!

AWESOME! I'll give him a shout tomorrow as I hate to bother people on Sunday. The plugs get old after awhile and I hate muff's they just don't work well with my rifles. Thanks Kevin, Later,

Met Al last night and had some plugs made and I may say AWESOME! they fit well and don't hurt my ears, I can still hear a little so the evil buzzer I should still be able to pick up, they don't get in the way when going prone on my LR rifles which is a HUGE bonus.

In general Al is a hell of a nice guy! has a good product and they fit my budget just right. Later,

I was just at a Hearing Specialist here in Edmond getting tested for hearing aids. They offer plugs (made by another business). They are only rated between 22 and 24 NRR. Most muffs are rated between 28 and 36, and the foam plugs are usually around 26 or 28. The custom plugs were $75. I won't pay that for a lower rating than my muffs and foam plugs. Talked to an Ear, Nose and Throat guy today who was checking my ears for problems before getting fitted for aids. He said the muffs are the best protection overall,,,,,that's why the Navy and air force use them aroung jet aircraft

I was just looking at the foam plugs my client had in the shop. E A R brand. If they fit right ... the raw NRR was 32 dB on those foam plugs. In real live- 22 to 29 would make me happy.

Ear muffs? A good pair (like David Clark Co produces) will clip close to 30. Be aware ... the cheapo light weight muffs sold at most big box sporting goods come in around 22. You get what you pay for.

I have a pair of custom fitted foam plugs. With out a dB meter or test equipment I find those to be a quiet or more than any industrial foam plugs... and way better than the mid price Caldwall muffs I own. Plus... they dont make my ears or head hurt when I wear them.

You can double up..... foamies under muffs. The NRR is not totally additive but you will see a large improvment in NRR. Thats what most high noise jobs require

I got some of the custom molded plugs from Al about 6 weeks ago and am VERY happy with them! I shoot prone often and the muffs just seem to get in the way for me. I have been thinking about a good pair of muffs to go over the ones Al made for me to knock out some of the blink I get from the report of the rifle, pistol, shotgun so I can keep my eyes on target and sights a touch better.

The plugs Al made I can still hear enough but they block out the pop very good and don't hurt my ears and the headaches have went away from using the foam or plastic plugs, several hours with the foam or plastic plugs just killed my head for some reason.

They have been doing some remodel on the floor at work with jack hammers and all sorts of cool noisemakers and I can wear the plugs Al made all day without any ill effects sometimes even forget they are in. Later,

I wear Peltor ear muffs. They're a bit bulky but work. By the end of a long match day I'm ready to take them off. I'm going to give the Surefire plugs a go this weekend or next.

Or you could do what I did and buy a suppressor. After shooting with it, I never want to shoot without it. Kinda expensive ear pro though. ;)
