I can go 2 ways, trade for an ugly ass green Versamax, or 26" M2. The VM is kind of ready to go, M2 will need at least a mag extension. Similar priced at LGS. Honestly, the only 3gun specific mods for whatever I get will be done by me. So, I need reliable and relatively easy to work on.

Have you shoot both models? If not, try and do so because they fell very differently. Go with the one that fits and feels the best to you. Both are great platforms and either one will be awesome.

After back to school, back to college, 500$ car repair, looks like its gonna be 870 pump for a few months. :-( Good news I still can shoot!

It's not blown. Just throws 2 shells onto lifter. I'm very frustrated, especially since I really like how it points and shoots, at least when it shoots. Works fine if I just load 2 in the tube, but that kind of defeats the purpose.

Have you contacted Mossberg to see if they can help?

I haven't contacted Mossberg yet. I just tried the routine DIY improvements, and replaced the bent mag tube spring. Here's where I'm at, polished chamber and mag tube/ extension union, polished shell stop as best I could, it's a cast piece, really cleaned the gun, including gas rings, ran it dry, ran it wet , bolt wet, gas dry, bolt wet gas system light oil. I do know how to take it apart and put it back together. I think also Feegee has some info for me. I going to upgrade, just didn't want to quite so soon. Thing is, I have 2 boys that want to 3 gun, and I can swing a Benelli for me and let them share the JM. But not for a few more months.

As it turns out, I took my JM to a smith that is totally confident he can make it run like a singer. Also, getting the lifter and load port done up, too. Too bad it won't be ready for the Rockcastle event, but still have the tried and true 870. At my level, the 870 isn't going to be a factor anyway.

Just FYI. I ran my JM (had only about 50 shells through it prior) for the first time Wednesday and Thursday at the Midnight 3-Gun in Oregon and might have learned something (maybe not, though). The first night, with the gun squeaky clean, I had a failure to feed on every stage and had to rack it at least once per stage to keep shooting. After all the dust and sand blowing around that night, I knew I should clean it before the next night, but was just too danged tired from being up 28 straight hours. Ironically, it ran perfectly on Thursday night -- never even a hiccup. Perhaps it was because it was broken in a little better, or maybe it likes to be a little grimy. Who knows, but I found it interesting and somewhat perplexing. Now I don't know whether to clean it or not.

Try both.
