Went to my physical therapist today, have an elbow tendon problem, and he asked me how my elbow was feeling. I told him it had been real sore ever since my appt. on Friday. So he asked me what I had been doing all weekend. Told him I shot a match, but that it was Saturday, and Friday was when it had been hurting the worst, and was just sore on Sat. felt better on Sunday. All of a sudden, it's because I shot the match on Saturday that my elbow was hurting, even though it started hurting after he did some scraping thing to it on Friday. It's "not possible" that what he did made it hurt. Had to be all the recoil I was taking from shooting. Tried to explain that an AR-15 doesn't exactly recoil enough to hurt anything, and that all I had been told was not to lift things over 15 pounds, and that my rifle only weighs 8 pounds. He didn't care "it's still a lot of shock to the body" ummmm, ok then why did it start hurting the day before the match? He gets a bit defensive and says "What do I know, I just work here". I told him I wasn't trying to sound cocky, but that what he was saying just didn't make sense. This is the same guy that has told me absolutely zero about what the problem is, what I have done to it, and why I should do what he is telling me to do, and what to avoid doing. When asked he basicaly just shrugs. Really sick of it. First day I went to him, after he examined me I asked him what I had done to myself he said "I dunno" then when I told him what the Dr had said "radial tendonitis" (actualy I think he called it epicondilitus or something) when he gave me a shot of cortisone and prescribed the therapy he says "well that can mean a lot of things" and thats it.

Is it just me, but are about 75% of people in the medical field complete jerks who think they are above you? I have had some experience with a few great Drs and nurses but man the bad ones sure seem to stand out. This guy gets you started on an excercise, and then goes and stands at his computer or talks to the other therapists about sports. When I tried to ask him Friday about what I could do, or not do and used push ups as an example he just said "no, nothing you wouldn't normaly do, or anything that is covered by your restrictions"

Sorry for the rant......

Wow. I was told by the Dr. and physical theorpist that I should keep shooting because the recoil will help with muscle pain

That's why I quit going to doctors. The last time I went was after a basketball injury where I broke both elbows. Only thing they did was took a few x-rays and told me that I had broke both elbows (no elephant dung! Maybe that's why they hurt) and gave me some pain meds and sent me on my way. Told me that they would heal up on their own and that I didn't have to come back if I didn't want to. So after 3 hours and $1100 all I got was conformation on what I already knew and his signature on a script.

Don't keep going to a doctor you don't like. There are good ones out there. Come see me in Pryor. I'll get you better and keep you shooting.

so this is your physical therapist right? not a doctor?

Talk to the folks at work, I know I got sent to the company doc once and that lazy worthless well you get the idea I went back and told them and I got to see my normal doc. In the long run it saved them money and I got fixed! that so called company doc was just charging stupid money and if you got better he would not be able to make as much.

I've run across a few doctors that I keep the names cause they are good people, I've not run into many crappy docs but the ones I have run into I got up and left! Later,

Kirk

It might just be physical therapists. Docs are hit and miss, but I've seen a lot of bad come from the physical therapy area. In fact, I can cite a few instances where they were more harm than good.
