Just ordered my Dillon 650, held off on the case feeder right now until I get in a little extra overtime. Can't wait till it comes in. Any thing I should avoid during set up or anything you recommend during set up? Does anyone by chance have the instructional DVD? I forgot to add that to my cart and already placed the order.
Thanks

The machine comes out of the box fairly ready to go. Just attach it securely to your bench and set your dies up. The only thing that needed adjustment on mine was the cartridge positioner at the priming station. A buddy of mine uses PVC "speedloaders" to keep the casefeed tube full.

Best advice is to get used to what the machine feels like when its running and stop if something sticks or binds. If you get frustrated just walk away from the machine and take a break.

That really is the best advice. Until you get used to the operation of the machine, you'll be pulling cases to make sure there's a primer seated, stopping to make sure powder dropped, etc., and that kind of thing makes loading REALLY slow, because then you're essentially back to a single-stage. And when you have an issue, make sure you know what the condition is of the shells on the plate. I think my recent and only squib was a direct result of issues I had with the primer ram, and me focusing entirely on that while totally losing track of the shell plate index.

I just ordered a 650 too. With the powder charge die, automatic case feeder, aluminum pull handle, etc. I can't wait to get it up and running.

I've got the instructional vhs....somehwere.
Just youtube them. Almost as good, from what I remember

I guy on another forum told me he's been waiting 4 weeks so far, think Dillons site said 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Thank you I found a set up video

When something binds up, just power through. No problem. And as a added benefit you get to learn how to fix a broken dillon.

No. Be gentle.

That's how you learn to replace an indexing ring.

Can I have stupid actions for $200 please Will.

Thanks guys I'll keep that in mind, I already screwed up a decapping pin on my buddies 550b because I wasn't paying attention when I loaded a case.

Mine too was ready right out of the box. You don't need the video, just set your dies up running a single round thru each station. As said stop...and read the book if necessary, it's not really complicated. If all else fails there's always youtube.

Do your self a favor and get the spare parts kit and some spare decapping pins. You'll never need a part unless you are loading match ammo the night before the match.

This^^^
I made the mistake of loading the night before, and broke a part on another brand. I had to dip into the factory reserves. I currently have two of every part on the loader that moves, slides, indexes, etc. :D

Here is a video of one of mine. Turn on the collators check the alarms on the powder check die and primer tube and start cranking out ammo.

I've decided to buy a 650, but still in the research mode and going to see a buddy in TN to do some reloads and practice on his 650 for some OJT. Did you buy the Dillon directly from Dillon? What about buying from that Brian Enos guy? Any recommendations on what accessories to buy?

Have Fun in TN! I do, what part of TN are you going to?
My friend lives an hour outside of Memphis, can't remember the town name. I used to live in Southaven and Clarksville, nice state, good people :)

Go with Brian Enos on the dillion 650 with the "as it should be" upgrade.
