Your federal gobermint at work. The Department of Homeland Security has issued new information on how to respond to an active shooter situation in the workplace. You are to run away, hide, and throw something at the shooter. Yes, throw something. I can just see them cringing in fear of that box to thumbtacks. Fear the tape dispenser (ok, at a hefty 1.5lbs, that might actually do something, maybe). If they limited the distribution of this course to civilian employees, or even unarmed employees, that would be one thing. But this is the new federal standard, and is being distributed across the board, including to armed officers.

So the federal standard for a law enforcement officer who encounters an active shooter at work is to run away and hide, throw something, and call law enforcement. So the when the law enforcement officer on duty responds 30 min later, they can then run away and hide, and call for law enforcement. Lather, rinse, repeat. And remember, yYour nanny state department loves you

That should make the general public feel REAL safe. What good is our border patrol coverage(minimal at best, to boot) if they have their hands tied as well? These kind of "defensive" measures will most likely promote an increase of illegal entry and/or criminal activity, as well as increase the number of hostage situations. Common sense and logic are rapidly climbing on the endangered list these days.

All is well in the good old USSA.

Oh but also think of another motive. If no one interferes with a crazed gunman he can kill or harm more people. The bigger the bloodbath, the greater the cry will be for stricter gun control measures and the masses will totally agree. That's the situation used by so many other gun restricted countries. One big massacre lead to extreme control or total bans.
