Definitions need to be established.
is there anything more fundamental?
When talking about requiring background checks for online sales are we to believe that they are too stupid to realize that if a firearm crosses state lines it's required to go to a dealer already?
Perhaps they are not that ignorant and are looking, truly, to kill in state private transactions by shutting down sites like this and upstate...
I can't see how it would be enforceable. It would take federal reverse stings as local law enforcement is not capable of monitoring web sites to the extent required to stop local transactions.
And by basing the portion of the law on the phrase " online" the transactions positioned from casual relationships, newspaper ads, bulletin boards etc unaffected

You assume the desire is to enforce the law. Having laws that do something positive and are enforceable is not what the current gun grab is about.

Authoritarians and statists get off on telling others what to do. You will find them all around you. People who feel the need to tell others what to do and how to do it regardless of the constitutionality of it, or the negative impact on others freedom. There are a few who post on this board in fact... :?

I think it is just another example of the gun grabbers misleading the citizens. They want the uninformed to think that we can order guns online over the internet and they magically appear at our house.

They want to stop all private sales and they use terms like internet sales and gunshow loopholes to rally support for their cause. With the liberal media in full support, no one calls BS on these inaccurate terms.

I assume you are talking about the Schumer-Manchin-Toomey amendment.

THat would require you to go through an FFL with 4473 for any "private" sale that involves the internet or a publication.

Publication is not defined. It could be very broad; the Black law dictionary basically includes any public announcement. The common usage could be any newsletter, circular, newspaper, etc. Internet is obviously extremely broad; if you, say, worked a FTF with a coworker then used your smartphone to text him on the day you were linking up to do the trade you'd be committing a felony.

The Schumer-Toomey-Manchin bill is a bad one for us unless we get a TON of good stuff added in.

We should just start calling it the Alan Gotlieb amendment. Apparently he is taking credit for writing it. I'm glad I don't give the CCRKBA any money either.
