I was thinking a Stand Your Ground (non-Castle Doctrine) situation what ranges would you be defending yourself...

What distances should you practice your CW defensive shooting?
Would a BG even pull a weapon at 45 feet (15 Yds)?
When would you realistically see your life is threatened?

I think most happen within 5 yards...I practice up to 15 yards because if im on the other side of a store and someone is shootin, i wanna be able to hit him first! My life is threatened if anyone has a gun out thats not suspose to be and shots would be fired if i got pointed at anyone or if anyone is armed with another weapon (knife etc..) within 5 yrds or so and coming towards me or my family.... But ignoring your non-castle doctrine if someone is on my property and shouldn't be, they'll be at gunpoint until I know who they are and what they're doing - please dont ever come see me without calling or wearing proper ID!!!

A friend of mine led me to this shortly after I received my CWP in the mail.

In the SC Criminal Justice Academy, they go over distances in relation to escalation of force, and how close or far away a knife wielder can be and still close in and inflict that kind of damage. Basically, if they move toward you within 7 meters, deadly force is more than OK.

That was very instructional...What I heard is we need Open Carry.

Sounds like 15 feet (5 yards) is the pivotal point.

when i see his gun pulled. i know i can hit a man sized target at 50 yards, maybe he can too.

practice would be closer. sometimes people think 10 ft practice is too close. for an inexpirenced shooter i builds confidence to hit the target, even if it has to be close.
