Picked up a Sig Legion SAO P229 the other day. Apparently the sao's are hard to find. Anyhow, I was looking for something to use in a raffle/fundraiser, and before it was delivered, my FFL said he bet I'd end up keeping it. After checking it out, he was right. Dam nice pistola, for a non-1911. Good weight and balance, and it shoots straight. I like it. It's stayin.

Quick update, got that Sig back to the range today, ran flawlessly, 600 rounds, without a burp, belch, or stall! Almost no muzzle rise, very easy to hold on target. Very soft shooting, compared it to my Wilson EDC X9, and the Fostech, out shot both, a clear win for the Sig. Anyone want a Wilson or Fostech? Great range day! But, aren't they all!

Okay, one more time, I took this thing back to the range again today, round count well over 1,300 now. Still not one failure of any kind. To be fair, there were three rounds out of all of these, bulk, 115 gr. fmj that didn't fire, primers were sideways, go figure. This pistol is flat out amazing. I do believe the testing/break-in period for this one is complete. Graduation to carry status. I should mention there were several types and brands of hollow points in that total count. ( still have that Wilson, and Fostech to sell)

Love the P series. Own a 220, 226, 227,229. Carry the 220. You can see in my account that is a picture of a .45 from a carjacking at close range. He was dumb enough to shoot at my daughter who was frightened, but unscathed. My 220 put two rounds of 230 grain HST in his head for him. Little girl said Daddy, why did you shoot him twice in the face? Paused and followed with, You know ammo is expensive. Night before thanksgiving. Wife was hot. She was going to have a hard time explaining to her family what kind of b.s. I had gotten into. Missed her good cooking, but friends brought me care packages
On his way down he reflexively pulled the trigger and got me in the femur in between the thigh and the tibia, fibia.
It was the last thing he ever did.
Ambulance took me to the ICU and was drugged into unconsciousness.
Surgery two days later, five plates, 15 screws and three rods.Second surgery removed all the metal. Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq, nary a scratch. Come home and this. Instincts of a dung beetle.

As your story proves, they are great guns, and very reliable! Mine is only a 9mm but the round count is well over 2000 and I still haven't had that first failure, attributable to the gun. I like those grips.

Mike, you won't have a failure either. Swap out the recoils spring when you feel it is not going into or out of battery as desired, keep it moist and it will serve you well.
My 229 is on its second barrel and third recoil spring. I have the fifteen round mags and with one in the chamber, sixteen one twenty four grain +p hsts are heavy. Put the Houges on it too. Great shooter. Big hands require it and I am an athletic guy, slim, but strong. The more purchase you can get, the better you shoot. The 220 is actually more gentle than the 226 or 229. Really !

I'm in my mid 70's, and my hands shake a bit, but I can empty a 15 rounder in 4 to 6 in center target at 30 feet, rapid fire. Absolutely manageable recoil, with not much in muzzle rise or flip, I'm going to stockpile several spring sets and a barrel, simple because you never know how long we'll be able to do so. Great advice, thanks! I looked up those grips, they say they will not fit the Legion model

Why dirty up the Legion with all that rubber?
I am going to check this out. They must be built on the same frames.
I hope I can shoot like that in 15 years when I will be 74.5. Hell, I am not sure I can do that now. Be proud brother. Just making it to that age is a feat in itself.
The Legion is a beautiful firearm. My Sigs are all beat up, but a little rem oil makes them pretty again.
I need to know about the grips. I will get back here in a minute.
