CZ/TANFOGLIO/EAA Owners?

Any CZ/TANFOGLIO/EAA Owners on this forum?
Im looking into those handguns, not many to choose from at ATP, didnt have any CZ when i was in a test driving mood.

Personally, I like the CZ-82 (& 83's). As a surplus weapon, the 82 is very inexpensive and I simply order a lot of the Makarov ammo as you usually will not find this caliber at Walmart. I do miss the fact that it has no decocker, but like that the grip has a thumb rest. A heavier replacement recoil spring has tamed it quite a bit.

I'd love to get my hands on a CZ-75BD and see how that feels.
 
I had a CZ-75 for a while before I gifted it to a friend. I really liked that gun. It was full-sized, heavy, and the ergonomics were great. I would buy another in a heartbeat.
 
I think that is why I love the CZ's. They feel great in your hand and they point well due to the ergonomics. For some reason the Glock doesn't do that for me.
 
I have an EAA Witness and a licensed Tanfoglio Armscor MAPP1(full size and compact).
Both are 9mmx19 and polymer frames.

Wanted the double action, single action, hammer and manual safety for my range/practice pistol.
Absolutely no issues with either except got a slightly stronger spring (my preference).
Felt like the slide was hesitating when coming back into battery.

Also have the CZ-52 and CZ-82.
Very dependable weapons.

I love all, they feel great in in my hands and while shooting, except the CZ-52 (a little wide).

I have 2 witnesses, I love em both. One in polymer and one in the wonder finish. I think very highly on the EAA/CZ guns.
 
I have Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match in .45 and in .40 with tac rail.

GREAT weapons, feel great, shoot great, built great. Can't go wrong.

Resurrecting an old thread here, but I'm new here, so forgive me. Just wondering if the OP ever picked up a CZ... I recently picked up a CZ75 SP-01 Tactical. I went with the tactical model so that I could have a decocker rather than a safety. I replaced the night sights with a set of target sights (fiber optic red front and black, textured rear). I also changed the black rubber grips for some coco bolo grips and I changed out both the recoil spring and mainspring. Shoots like a dream.

For plinking and goofing off at the range, it's an amazing gun. Handles well and the recoil is surprisingly light for a 9mm. Must be all that metal up front. :) Then again, the only 9mm I ever spent much time with before was a Glock 17 so the difference is significant.

Meh... It's fairly new. Got it over the summer sometime. Can't remember exactly when I picked it up. Traded off a Glock 17 for it so I think I ended up with a pretty fair deal. Especially since I'm more prone to shooting this gun since it's a little more friendly at the range than my G17 was.

Please keep in mind that the following thoughts are just my opinion. Others will have different thoughts and I respect that. These are my findings:

Ergonomically, the CZ is far superior to the Glock. I always found the Glock to be slightly off for some reason. I never really could quite put my finger on it (no pun intended), but it never felt quite right. I find the trigger on my CZ to be lighter and more crisp. Even after a Ghost Ultimate kit, the Glock trigger was kind of mushy. Adding to the comfort of the CZ is the added weight up front. I find that the felt recoil is significantly less. Also, the recoil is more straight back towards the shooter, whereas I found the recoil on the Glock to be 1) more substantial and 2) different in that the gun flipped up and back. I can easily put a couple hundred rounds down range with the CZ where I would feel significantly more fatigue after shooting a similar number of rounds with my Glock 17.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my Glock 17, but I have yet to find a gun as comfortable for me to hold as the CZ. The beavertail and high grip profile is a significantly different shooting experience than the Glock offered.

If I were looking for a SHTF gun that I could run over with a truck and swim the English Channel with, I'd pick a Glock 17 any day over just about any other gun. But for target-shooting, range-plinking and just plain comfort and design, it would, without a doubt, be a CZ.

I concur with your opinion from personal experience:

My wife and I went down to Allen Arms in Greenville for their Valentine's Day Special one year (really romantic, right?). Well, we rented the G17 and Beretta 92FS (at the time, those were the two guns I was thinking about buying). She hated the Glock, and couldn't get good groupings (6"+). When we switched to the Beretta, her groupings were in the 3-4" range (and this was her FIRST TIME shooting a handgun!), and she enjoyed herself much, much more. Her groupings were probably improved because of the additional weight, the slimmer grip, and a better overall understanding of how to shoot a gun.

I feel like the metal framed guns do aide in keeping recoil down (obviously because of their additional weight), but for someone who shoots guns made of Battle Tupperware all the time, I doubt it would make too much difference to them.
