So does anyone own any of the CZ clones on the market, particularly the Tristar/Canik ones? What are your opinions of them and do they perform well for you? I know they can be had for around 350 bucks and that sounds like a great price for a durable and functioning pistol.

I have a Tristar T-120 and I've not had any issues with it at all and have put around 1500 rounds through it. It uses CZ or mecgar mags without issues. The trigger is a bit stiff, I replaced the springs in mine with a set from Cajun Gun Works. I don't have a trigger scale but just changing the springs made a world of difference.

Check out the EAA SAR K2. The .45 has adj sights, rail, and a 14 rnd mag for under 400$. You can get it in 9mm with a 16+1 mag for around 340$. They are made by Sarsilmaz for the Turkish military. The reviews seem to be good. They look similar to the Tristar guns, probably made in the same factory.

This is the IWI clone right? The one that rides rails on the inside of frame?

The Jerhico 941 is the one I am thinking of. Canik makes several things, walther ppq clone, and several cz75 clones. tristar just imports them I believe.

I have the Canik 55 Stingray. Pretty well built. I put in CGW springs and it helped the DA pull significantly. A copy of the CZ compact 9mm. Mine is all black steel frame. It shot pretty high when I got it, but I fixed that. Pretty accurate too.

There's a YouTube video somewhere a guy did where he shows off a budget production gun he did on a Canik
Except it isnt on the Production approved list (last time I looked, anyway)

Academy was selling the tri-star version for $299 - $319 awhile back.
Centerfire sells the Canik Stingray for $329ish and cant keep them in stock.
I didnt like the ambi controls, but otherwise its not bad (the one I shot really, really needed a trigger job, and a lighter recoil spring)

Robert, how was the accuracy on the one you shot? I put a 14# recoil spring in mine right away. It does need a trigger job though...

I didnt attempt any group shooting.
I shot steel plates at 8-20 yds and accuracy was fine.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. The P-120 would probably be a better game gun. I didn't look to close at the specs when I bought mine. The P is steel and the T is alloy. The P is 3/4 a pound heavier.

I bought my titanium cerakote T-120 direct from Tristar.

elephant dung, now I'm going to have to go buy a CZ clone. Have several CZs and absolutely love them. Now I'm going to have to sift through the Canik models and order one.
