I have a GA permit (I'm a GA resident) but I also live and own property in SC. As I don't think SC will ever get reciprocity with GA, I reckon I better dance to the SC music and take a class. My wife and son (both SC residents) will need to go as well. Any recommendations?

I don't know if you're familiar with Simpson's Hardware over on Westmark, but they offer the classes. If you go back to the gun counter, they have a signup sheet. There's also a place over on Guignard in the little shopping center next to Murray's Donuts that offers the classes. I think both places charge $85 and it's an all-day Saturday affair. I've been considering taking the course with the guys at Simpsons. I know them fairly well from shopping in there and would feel pretty comfortable hanging out with them all day.

Yes sir! Well... Technically, the OP was the one asking. But you've got my attention. I like the idea of splitting it up over 2 days. I typically have to work on Saturdays for at least a little while so it's nice not to have to commit to a full 8-hour session.

My son and I attended the class through Simpson's this past Saturday. Lt Mike Evans (Sumter PD) did a great job and actually made the class interesting. Shot my 3" Colt Defender at the range and didn't have any trouble shooting a perfect score. Now I just have to wait the 3-4 months to get the permit. In GA, state law gives them only 45 days to get it to you...
