I'm putting together some BoomerShooter.com lowers today. I was wondering what cutting the tail off the hammer actually does for the trigger?

What? I did it because you guys told mr too!! Worked really well today though. My understanding is that it reduces hammer mass when using light trigger springs, like yellow JP. Made my trigger 100% better, but still wouldn't call it match grade. I think the hammer mod really comes into play in cold weather and/or hard primers.

helps out with light strikes when using JP or other reduced power springs for a lighter trigger weight

Same thing it does on revos.

Anytime you reduce hammer spring pressure the hammer slows down. Reducing it's weight speeds it back up providing enough "whack" to the primer.
