You can do that. I do that for the rifles I build for customers. JP recommends it with their adjustable trigger systems. I don't have any pics of the ones I have done.

I installed the JP kit in my rifle. Did not cut the tail off of mine...what exactly is that supposed to do for you?

It's supposed to speed up the hammer with the lighter springs. JP recommends it to prevent light primer strikes that can be caused by reducing the trigger spring weight.

Mine was fine until I hit a combination of cold and military primers. But it did happen. Mine is chopped now.

I know but I'm a procrastinator I was going to give it to you Saturday but you didn't come. I still have that extra set of yellow springs you can have.

It's raining today, so no shooting for me. So, exactly what is the best/easiest way to bob that hammer? Hacksaw, Dremel cutoff wheel, something not obvious to a shade tree smith?

Use a Dremel cutting wheel (426 or 456). I've been using the same cutting wheel for a dozen hammers so far.

Rambo did it with his handy dandy knife that does anything from cleaning fingernails to stopping tanks.
