I have had a Crossbreed Quick Clip holster for Browning HP now for almost a year. I thouht I would share my thoughts on it.

+'s comfortable; easy to put on and take off; easy to draw; concealment is good; adjustable for cant

-'s kydex does not grip gun tight enough-gun will slip out if I bend over, or kneel; no way to adjust tension; J hook is plastic (kydex??) and lost its form-it opened up so that it would not stay clipped to belt (company sent me a replacement at no cost); holster cost was expensive.

Overall satisfaction is 7 0n 1-10 scale (10 = complete satisfaction)

That gun shouldn't come out of the holster. Crossbreed will re-melt the kydex or send you instructions on how to do it.

I can't see paying more than $30 for that. I've often wondered about the cross breeds and seeing that makes me glad I never opened my wallet.

What did the company say about the retention issue? It is unacceptable if a gun comes out of a holster.

Below is their response. I tried to heat up the kydex as suggested, but I don't think the hair dryer could get it warm enough, or I did'nt try long enough (5 minutes). The retention is a bit better, but I'll have to wear it to judge.

"A word about retention.
When it comes to how a holster holds a firearm, some folks like it real tight
and others want almost zero. We shoot for a middle ground when we make the
holster. However, variables beyond our control such as your body shape, the
tightness of your belt, etc. can alter the retention when you are wearing your
gun/holster vs. just having it in your hands.

It is fairly easy to adjust the retention to your liking. With the gun IN the
holster, (unloaded of course!) remove the clips if they are removable, if not,
cover them with a damp, cool rag.

Now cover all the rest of the kydex and leather with a second cool, damp rag.
Leave only the indentation for the trigger guard and area immediately around it
exposed. You may also want to work with the ejection port area as well.

Take a hairdryer and slowly heat the trigger guard area, (or ejection port) you
will see it soften and "lift" after a couple minutes or so. Now just press the
trigger indent back into the trigger guard making it shallower or deeper to
alter the retention to suit yourself.

Obviously you need gloves for this. If the kydex gets to looking "wet" or shiny
STOP, you have it too hot and it's about to melt. Let it cool and try again.

If this seems too risky for your tastes or you just don't want to bother with
it, that’s OK. Send it in and we'll adjust it to your liking for free, it's part
of the warranty.
Thanks"

Their advice is sound. It is tough to make a product that everyone likes, impossible really. Someone needs to make one of the Crossbreed types with some adjustable retention, like DaveE and I do.

Dux,

Why did you go with the J hooks as opposed to the standard SnapLok clip system? The superior concealability? I was looking at getting the Supertuck deluxe and was debating on which clip type to get. BTW, thanks for posting the review.
