Does anyone else on the forum do Cowboy shooting?
Cowboy action shooting is a 3 gun event with Pistol, shotgun and rifle but they are vintage style weapons
The pistols have to be single action, the rifle has to be in a pistol caliber and the shotgun must be either double barrel or lever action with only 2 shells allowed to be loaded at a time.

A lot of ranges now have cowboy towns for competition with singel action and vintage guns. It was not my intention to jump into it because I don't have any of the older guns, but my wife just loves the people and get togethers and she twisted my arms to get me to join up so I sent in my application to SASS which is Single Action Shooters Society. My name is now officially Doctor Don for any of the shooting events we will attend.

Now I have to buy some Period correct clothes, guns & Holsters, ect. very ect... since I don't have anything but a cowboy hat and I'm not sure that even fits anymore.

Interested to know who else shoots Cowboy action.

Don,
We've talked about getting the cowboy shooters involved several times, but just don't know any of them. Please spread the word about BoomerShooter to the cowboy crowd & let them know what a valuable resource this is for posting match info, questions & basic shenanigans

The problem with that is that each of them have their own web sites and there is a central site for all of them. I will spread the word though because I am a sponsor here and want them to get involved.

Personally I'm not into it but both the wife and I enjoy watching the Cowboy action at OKCGC; it's fascinating to watch them shoot and they dress as if they are in an old west town

I have never don't it but want to sooooo bad. If it just weren't another arm and a leg to get into it. Rifle, shotty, 2 pistols, leather and the clothes! Although i would love to have all of those, I pretty much picked all my gear out a while back but just gotta quit spending my money on other stuff......like mosins ;)

Thats pretty close to $1900 in beginner guns. I don't even want to talk about what it would take to be a high level competitor.

I almost got into this right when I really started shooting seriously. I picked up a Ruger New Vaquero and had an action job done on it and the sights zeroed at 15 yards. I still have the rig for it, actually. Maybe I'll pick up some cowboy guns again in the next couple of years and give it a shot. What I thought was interesting were the alias names people choose.
