Hey all,

Thought I would share a few photos of some rifles my father and I acquired in a trade for a motorcycle and get any opinions / info on them. In particular, if anyone knows a good resource for valuing these rifles that would help too. I'll probably list them for sale on here pretty soon. I just don't know that much about them yet.

Here is the Colt Sporter II in .222 Rem, which is a caliber I didn't know existed until I saw this. Apparently it was made for export to countries where military calibers are banned. It also came with a .223 barrel and parts, the previous owner saying the same magazines and upper would run .223 (I have not verified that). Since it has fwd assist, I believe it's early 1980's vintage.

The other one, a Daewoo, I was extremely leary about since I have already had enough Daewoo crap fall apart on me. But apparently these are very good rifles, borrowing some of the better features from both the AR and the AK. I can say it certainly feels nice and ergo, and I look forward to shooting it. I might shed that flash hider, which I think the prev owner added.

So if anyone knows much more than me (which isn't a lot) about these rifles, I'm interested. I've seen a few DR-200's sell on gunbroker, but it seems the Colt is highly uncommon in .222 Rem.

Cheers :D

A motorcycle is mentioned in the first sentence. And that Daewoo guns look extremely cool. I hope it's a good rifle.

I did indeed read that tidbit of information. However, being that there are a plethora of motorcycles with a very broad range of values, I was curious as to what year, make, and model he traded for it. ;)

Just out of curiosity, what did you trade these for?

We traded a 2008 Kawasaki Versys that we got out of an insurance auction and rebuilt. It was a cool bike, clean and low miles, and just a very cool model in general. The rebuilt title hurt it's value, although there was no frame damage or any remaining damage at all after the work my dad did on it.

We traded it for these and a few other rifles (like a Chinese SKS, nothing too unusual).

Theres a couple of Daewoo DR-200s on GB ranging from $850 to $1200 and 1 Colt in 222 for $3800. Hope this helps

That does help, thanks. I've seen that guy's Colt a few places around the web though, and it doesn't seem to generate a lot of interest at that price. Hopefully I'm wrong and it's worth that!!

Is there something like a blue book for guns? I'm guessing pawn shops etc have something like that, but I dunno...?

My bluebook of gun values says:

AR-15 production included transition models, which were made up of obsolete and old stock parts. These transition models include: blue label box models having large front take down pins, no internal sear block, 20 inch barrel models having bayonet lugs, mis stamped nomenclature on receivers or green label bolt assemblies.

I might be able to tell you more but I would need to know the entire serial number to do so.
there are a lot of post ban guns made to look pre-ban but not everyone knew what they were doing.
