These are just costs. I use a bunch of airline miles, hotel points and fuel from my company truck to pay for a bunch of stuff. My primary sponsor Stag Arms sponsors almost all of the big 3 gun matches too. So I usually get a free slot into those matches. I get help from other sponsors too. That stuff doesn't help someone else figure out if they want to try the whole "pro" thing though.
 
I know you work really hard for everything you have, and have earned including your recent win! I do remember seeing a post on Facebook of you getting in 3 multi thousand dollar optics enough so you have one on your airsoft gun. So at your level their is some give, and take my whole AR, pistol, and soon to be Xmas present of a JM Pro shotgun are about what one of those optics cost retail. I want to be able to compete at least at a the club level, but as you have shown this is not the sport for those on a tight budget.

In my opinion (and I sure ain't no pro!!) as long as whatever guns you use run reliably, and you practice your ass off you will do just fine at the club level!! I am on a very tight budget and I still do ok at the club level. So I guess what I am trying to say is it don't matter how much you stuff cost if you just practice, practice, practice, and you can slowly start getting better and better. As your skill level goes up upgrade your gear accordingly.

I'm not as good as Jesse but with sponsorship and finishing in the top 15-30 a few times, I about broke even. If you are seeking a sponsorship for the money, it is for the wrong reasons. In fact, it will probably cost you more.

The only expectation I sign up with is that I will have fun and probably make back my match fee. ($250)
 
If you figure your time as worth anything to practice and the ammo, etc for practice, I don't think a guy could ever make a living at it but it sure looks like fun. Thank God for a business that can support your hobby.
 
Jesse your spreadsheet is incomplete. You have to factor in the cost of your guns, gear, practice ammo and equipment (I know you have your own steel range targets and such). Even with your sponsorships I'd wager that you ain't even close to breaking even.

We all need to count our blessings. When my kids were little all I could do was read in the magazines about Enos, TGO, Miculek, etc. battling it out and wish. That's as close as I could come to shooting a match.

I do need to add up all the guns and gear for all the divisions. That would be crazy expensive!

FWIW those 3 Swaro scopes weren't even mine. I got a discount on some refurb models for some friends. Having $7500 in new scopes at one time was too good not to pretend they were mine in Facebook.
 
I think if Jessie adds in his free sponsor gear and money he will come a lot closer to breaking even and might even be on the plus side. I don't think many people get into this sport with the idea of making money. It's the excitement and adrenaline that got me hooked. The people are great and that's what will keep me coming back even when the money is gone.

And if JT practices more there is plenty of money out there for the taking ;)

The top lady will win more than all but 1-2 men this year. I'm gonna get a sex change again to increase my odds next year.
