I have shot a lot of different 9mm through my cz p01 with no noticeable ware. 75 rounds of Tula brass max and barrel grooves have a lot of copper fouling. Ammo was cheap and brass dirty. Cheap went bang accurate but dirty. I have been using clp followed by hoppes oil with a nylon brush typically. I try not to over brush. I tend to be OCD with cleaning. Should I let it go or clean?

i used to scrub too much. many years ago.

i have used jacketed bullets to clean lead fouling from handguns. then just a regular clean.

i guess it would take bi-metal bullets to get copper out. ever use a wire brush? brass or steel?

Thanks for the reply Tiger,

Just found it intresting how quickly the ammo fouled the barrel. I used to use a brass brush but switched to nylon to avoid over abrasive cleaning. I was woundering if CLP is enough or should I use another cleaner on the fouling? Think i will try a regular clean and see what happens first.

I know there are powders (Hogdon CFE 223) and loaded ammo that supposedly remove copper fouling. I would do lots of homework, as I have heard some of these contain abrasives which may - for one - damage supressors. There are plenty of cleaning products claiming to remove various metal fouling. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in.
