the people i would like to thank are our governor nikki haley who thought of "WE THE PEOPLE" first and all the liberal scum out there who raised my awareness of the erosion of my rights.

thank you.

what about asking someones permission, having your fingerprints taken, paying someone to bore you for 8 hours and waiting for someone to issue you a piece of paper makes people feel the word "right" is involved?
You want to go through the same prosses to go to church?
Theres no need for more laws allowing anything. I am already allowed.
grab the bill or rights and a dictionary.

This is only my opinion and it don't mean squat!...................I shudder to think of all the mentally ill, criminals, and wacko red necks that also have the 2nd amendment right to own and carry firearms.............................................Some way needs to be found to guarantee that people of good will and are responsible citizens are the only ones allowed to posses or carry firearms.......If I have to take a test and have a back ground check, I am all for it....However, I am not keen on national gun registration.

Mental illness and criminal convictions mean they don't have 2A rights. Wacko denotes mental illness. Redneck means someone who works for a living like a farmer or many other outdoor professions. Nothing wrong with being a Redneck. I know and value the friendship of many Rednecks. I used to be one long ago. The mentally ill and convicted criminals are the only ones you have to worry about. They come in all sizes and flavors. The Rednecks have help defend our country when the other well educated slackers were running off to Canada, pleading Conscientious Objector or buying their way out of service. They have been there for every war. I was a linthead when I was in college. I've been a blue collar worker, a white collar worker and an employer. All of those have negative connotations to some people. 8-)

Not so long ago in our country, when having a gun on your person was so common the local general store had a gun rack to put your rifle in while you shopped, we did not worry about wacko red necks or the mentally ill and guns. There were no mass shootings, because anyone who might attempt it never knew who was armed, or they knew that if they tried something like that they would be killed. If by wacko red necks you mean the dumb hey watch this guys, mother nature had a way of weeding them out, that is until the nanny state started making laws to protect everyone. The criminals have always had guns so allowing for constitutional carry won't change that. Contrary to what the movies show there were not shoot outs on the streets every day. People respected guns, because they were taught to by their parents. They were taught to use guns properly like any other tool. I think the more guns we have the better we will be as a society. We might see civility return. People may not respect one another all the time, but they will respect the "tool" that is riding on your hip, which just may cause them to hold their tongue and their temper. If a fool starts to act up in public and then notices that the public is against him and a lot of them are armed, the smart ones will quickly change their behavior.

More of my opinion that doesn't mean squat!...................These aren't the "good old days".....The world then didn't have the news media making mountains out of mole hills.....Most people couldn't afford guns....There aren't many statistics on how many died due to gun violence back then.......I personally feel that one cannot compare people now with people of the past....Morality and responsibility have dramatically changed......We now live in a world presented to us through the television set!

Please accept this as an opinion and please accept that I respect other folks opinions.

Maybe we should ban televisions and video games until you pass an IQ test then?

the downfall of the romans was lead cuttlery,

ours will be know to be when television was corrupted.

One of my favorite quotes ever is by Robert A. Heinlein...

"An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life".

I don't have cable TV, never did. When the signal went digital I could not pick but 5 stations on my regular old TV. I had to move it for some reason and never hooked it back up. I think that was over two years are. Don't really miss it. Was getting tired of all the go green public service messages anyway. My wife and daughter watch netfix, I watch it some. Mostly I cruse the internet looking at forums and blogs I like and once in a while rent a move from the red box.

You are an Enemy of the US Constitution and the Civil Rights of Americans.

"You are an Enemy of the US Constitution and the Civil Rights of Americans." Thank you for your opinion, but I don't feel like an enemy of the Constitution or any one's civil rights..................If it will make you feel a little bit better I won't make any more posts on this thread.

mental illness...
Like all those men who are fighting for your fking freedom in other countries and are forced to kill?
Theres 2% of humans who can kill, even in 100% defense of thier life, and have no reprecusions. We call them sociopaths.
So all the guys who have killed in combat and felt bad about it should lose thier rights?
Gotcha, nice to know where you guys stand.

As far as felony disenfranchisment goes...in SC damage to a roadsign is a felony. So, a 17 year old throwing rocks at a stop sign should lose his ability to forever defend his life...

Nice.

All than needs to happen is to broaden the definition of mental illness and widen the net of what is considered a felony and noone will be able to own guns.

heres a question.

If you belive that someone convicted of a felony "loses thier rights"... fundamentally loses them....becasue IF its a RIGHT then its inalienable, as in
"all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights"

in?al?ien?a?ble
adjective
Unable to be taken away from or given away by the possessor: "inalienable human rights".

So if they can, and in your opinion SHOULD, be taken away or lost, then they must be just privileges.

Now thats YOUR stated belief...not mine. So if its a privileges, then who gave it to you can take it away.
So...when they tell you that you have to register your guns or its a felony, then YOU...by your own philosophy and definitions are unfit to own them.

I am continually amazed at the number of people that think a stupid training class, a handful of shots fired, being fingerprinted like a criminal, and a little piece of plastic amounts to some level of security that crazy people, or criminals, or anyone else they don't approve of, are prevented from carrying a gun.

Some people ignore the law and are carrying a gun without your consent now  Some of them are in a restaurant somewhere right now having a beer without anyone knowing :o I hope they can control themselves :?

Ted Kaczynski and Timothy McVee were both smart enough to pass the stupid test. Both are now called terrorists. They would have been cool carrying a gun based on SLED standards, until they blew up a building or mailed some bombs (both illegal I think) :?

Numerous people have reported that the instructor of the class they took was less than an expert on the laws. I concur and besides that, some people can't afford the time, or the cost. I guess they aren't worthy

It feels like I've asked this a million times. Can anyone explain how it's possible that the majority of the country (IE over half the states) are OC states with no training, no test, and no live fire, have managed to prevent the chaos of untrained, unapproved individuals who carry guns? I've yet to hear one story of someone who caused a riot, or made a natural disaster occur because they strolled into a gun store, bought a gun, holster and some bullets and couldn't figure out how to put it all together without government intervention.

Some people will allow the government to dictate terms with regards to their rights, as long as they qualify to be in the special group. They will be the first to scream when the qualifications are moved just outside their reach.

The laws in the United States regarding open carry of handguns are vary from state to state. Below is the full list of open carry states:

I've had three family members, who were in no way doing anything wrong, murdered in cold blood and the felons got off with sentences. They can't pay enough to get or have any freaking rights. They should have paid with their lives. If you can't play by the rules, you can't play. You have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Those rights were taken away by the felons. No they don't have any rights after violating someone else's rights. Take my guns or make me register guns so confiscation is easier. They don't have the right. They can only take them if I let them. There felonies on the books that shouldn't be there. Life isn't fair. Do something stupid or irresponsible and violate those and it sucks to be you. Get the law changed. If you don't want to lose the inalienable rights don't violate mine. Murderers, rapist, thieves, pedophiles and other morally reprehensible felonies forfeit any rights when they violate others rights. Personally I think there needs to be more executions. As for killing someone like that. I'm not a sociopath. But I don't feel bad about their passing. Might even say justified is a better description. Just my opinion.
I agree that instead of punishing the returning veterans who are having difficulty adjusting or internalizing their role in the ending of others lives. We should treat them and evaluate when they have regained a more normal mental and emotional status. Then give them a clean bill of health and remove any blocks from their record. Mental illness should not be allowed to be used as a political weapon. I might add that if they don't regain their mental health they may not be able to make good judgement calls and therefore be a danger to others or themselves. That is a tough call. I have had patients come in and tell me they forgot to take their "No Kill Pill". Makes you wonder sometimes. Nothing is absolute except death. None of us get out of this life alive. We will all have to answer to the man upstairs someday and I hope he cuts me some slack for the stupid things I've done and the smart things I should have done. Once again, just my opinion.

11 + 13 + 7 = less than the total number of states in the union. How do they manage in free America I keep asking.....

Moscowchusetts has a LOT more restrictions pertaining to "open carry" than you can imagine. The gun laws here vary from city to state, it is akin to playing hopscotch. It is probably closer to prohibited status in more than 75% of the state as a conservative estimate. However, there is no gun ownership allowed without a firearm permit at all. An FID card(Firearms Identification card) is the minimum required and only allows basic rifles and shotguns. I think the reference to restricted open carry indicates hunting seasons only most likely.

I find it strange that New Hampshire isn't on any of those three lists though. Where do all of the other states fit in? At best, all of the others would be on the prohibited list. I just don't get how this list has been compiled, as Forum members have reported open carrying being allowed in North Carolina and have documented their trips doing so. That being said, why isn't North Carolina somewhere on the listings? At the minimum, it should be where Moscowchusetts is on the listings.

The list is incomplete. How about a link to its source so we can email whoever is responsible to educate them on how many stars are on the flag?
