I'm glad that Ryan and West posted their videos of the NTMG match from last Saturday because it gave me a great tool to break down each segment of the stage and compare how I did against them. I am a newbie to this, a grand total of 4 matches so far, and am trying to make small improvements each match / stage. My first two matches I looked like I'd never shot a gun before!

I had good video of me on stage 2 so that's what I used as comparison. My iron sights were off so I tried to use my lowest power setting, 4.5x and shoot the short range targets. That cost me huge. In comparison, West shot the rifle in 23 seconds, Ryan in 26, me in 57. Hell, West was done with the stage before I dumped the rifle! I know better than to show up with my gear unprepared.

I don't expect to be able to run with the big dogs but I've made huge improvements each of the last two matches and am really challenged to continue improving every match / practice session.

So I'm going to try and get more / better video of each stage I shoot in the future to use this way.

I've done the exact same thing. Pull up two insuances of YouTube and run mine side by side with the stage winner to see where the time went. Great way to see your deficiencies.

That's why I always try to get video and watch other competitors videos. You'll pick up on the little things that are costing you time and see little tricks from other guys that may help save time. It's a very valuable tool to have and it's free.

I was just getting video of the stages to share with family and friends and didn't realize the potential until this latest match.

Looks like I stumbled onto a training tool. I'll try and get as much video as possible from now on.
