A couple of years ago I bought an ATI commander because I needed to try a few things for a client before embarking on his full blown custom gun. I piddled with it off and on for a few years, carried it for a while, then put it back in the safe for a rainy day.
Two weeks ago I told Eric I had a new project for him. It would be mostly up to him what was done to the little gun but in the end it should be something that people were wowed by that would would offer up to someone lucky enough to see it in time.
He took it to heart and started working. What he came up with is really quite nice in my opinion. The cosmetics are well executed, the barrel fit is superb, the trigger pull is amazing, and I promise you are going to see more of the tapered ball cuts in the near future...Comet Cuts as we've come to call them will be the new hotness!
So here it is, the Comet Custom Carry. The slide, frame, extractor, firing pin and grip safety are the only original pieces left. It features the following:
Bar-Sto .45 barrel fit and dish crowned.
CCP buried and protected adjustable rear sight.
CCP blended dovetail front sight.
Brown bobtail MSH stippled.
Harrison hammer, sear, disco.
STI full length guide rod stippled on the end.
Caspian ejector, stippled.
CCP firing pin plate.
CCP long curved trigger.
CCP mag catch stippled.
CCP slide stop stippled.
CCP thumb safety stippled.
CCP reverse guide rod plug
Rear of slide stippled.
Top of slide stippled and taper ball cut.
Front strap stippled.
Ball cuts on slide dust cover.
Slabslide ball cuts on sides of the slide.
Trigger pull a crisp 4lbs.
Polished small parts and slide flats, matte frame, blued finish.
Micarta Coyote grips.
Two CC mags.
Sold Pending Funds.
