Colt Combat Commander roll marks

Does anyone know when the Colt Combat Commander went from having roll marks that said "Colt's Combat Commander" to "Colts Combat Commander Model".

It made sense to me that it was when it went from a (so called) series 70 to series 80. But then noticed that some early 1980, 81 & 82 models had the "Model" added to the marking but were manufactured before 1983. So I then started to wonder if it was when series numbers changed over from 70BSxxxxx to 80BSxxxxx but haven't seen enough to actually compare.

I will add that I do know there was no actual designation as a series 70 Combat Commander but it would seem that the distinction has become common, right or wrong.

Anyone have a definitive answer on this, thanks in advance for a reply.

They usually call them a pre 80 series Commanders if made before about 1983 when the series 80 mechanical firing pin safety was installed. Below my 1980 which I have done some work on.

Nice pistols, so the 1980 one, what does the other side say and the serial number prefix?

Is it 80BSxxxxx and Colt's Combat Commander Model?
