I say shoot everything with it to see what it does. if you find it doesnt knockem down move up to a light mod

I shot Jesses match last week that had 4x4" plates with no shoot plates hardcovering the shootplates so only 4x2" was visible.

Light mod held off a couple of inches worked wonders on these.

I use Diffusion, Light Mod and Xtra Full Chokes.

Light mod is the primary. Diffusion if there are more clays/flipper targets. and the Xtra full is only used on spinners, poppers that are over 25 yards out or are giving other shooters grief to knock down.
Spoken from someone that has shot less than a dozen 3 gun matches.

LM works for most stages. Open or diffusion is preferred for the rest.

"this was my stage to win."

Easy cowboy. No amount of dry fire is going to help on all stages. That's. The reason we shoot matches. Have you shot a pistol at 100 yds yet? Kurt has us shoot that today.

I use improved modified 100% of the time. Not too forgiving, but it knocks steel over every time without any bullshit like plates turning sideways instead of falling.

I normally take my choke out on close targets; the threads distort the shot enough so that I get a really nice wide pattern .

And after every match I find something to change. I use what I use based on my experience at my matches and the recommendation of those who've been there.

For instance, after Jesses shotgun match I now have a case of Prairie storm #6 shot on the way for those pesky spinners. Im also altering the way I move and shoot thanks to recommendations from Jake Burki and Chris Anderson.
Damn Dude I would have sold you a box out of my case. I shoot 5 of those rounds per year.

I went out this weekend mainly to go drink with Miller after the match and see if the bug would bite again to get me out to shoot some 3G and while BS'in with everyone most of the choke tubes had "LM" on them, I've not shot a mess of different places but I'm going to say that for around here "LM" is going to work for 95% of the time. I have seen a few stages that I'd have damn sure liked to have had a "Full" choke and some 1 1/4 #6's but hey that was once. The flight control buck is going to like the "cyl" choke better but then again not a whole lot of buck or slugs shot.

Mike, I thought that was how they came up with the wad stripper chokes lol. Later,

Kirk
