Do you mean an actual Chinese military Type 63 (SKS variant with AK bolt mechanism and uses AK magazines http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_63_assault_rifle) or Norinco civilian Type 63 SKS (thumbhole stock, otherwise normal SKS)?

The former supposedly takes AK magazines sans the BHO. While almost 99% of AK mags are 30-round, smaller capacities exist. http://www.tapco.com/products/ak/index. ... oductId=12

The latter can, again on 3rd party info, take any of the modification kits like Tapco to use larger and/or detachable mags. http://www.tapco.com/products/sks/index ... ductId=415

YMMV - I'm not an SKS expert and this is all the result of internet research.

I have a triangle 26 with Chinese writing that was supposedly made in "57.
Someone told me that the 20 round 63 box mag would fit right into my sks
in place of the 10 round box mag.

i have a 20 rd mag that swaps for the 10 rd SKS mag, box.

fits right in. it has a star printed in the metal.

i got it at a gun show.

Back in the early '80...SKS's would not sell here...Couldn't give them away, and, there were millions of them worldwide. During those years, the Chinese did crazy thing to some of the rifles to sell them in the United States...
One of those things was the 20 factory styled mag...and, fiberglass stocks that looked just loke the wooden stocks, except they were lighter in weight...I have seen a few of the 20 round mags. Some of them had the circle with the star inside it embossed in the metal...I saw one that has a black stencil painted on it...

I have had a couple of the fiberglass stocks..they are cool...

So, if you want hi-capacity mags for your SKS...scour the countryside...they do exist...just got to find them...
