Growth in factory output and retail sales weakened in July, setting back China's economic recovery after Shanghai and other industrial centers were shut down starting in late March to fight virus outbreaks.

Large number of ships sitting idle around China, Taiwan, Japan area.

No matter how big China's economy gets, it's directly tied to the success of the US economy, as is the rest of the world. To put it in perspective, in 2020, the US imported 20% of China's total world exports. When the US goes into a recession like it is, it has a drastic effect on the economy around the world. If we continue to decline, we will take the rest of the world with us.

If you don't believe that, the US stock market crash of 1929 caused a chain reaction that sent the entire world into a Great Depression, not just the US. The US trade fell by 50%, that was enough to send every industrialized country around the world into a depression. Things were really bad here but some unemployment rates reached much higher than the US did.

A heavily industrialized country like China where 20% of their product exports are dependent upon the US buying power, would collapse. Since China is the number 1 exporter of goods worldwide, the dominos that would kick over would be catastrophic to the world economy. The deeper into this recession we get, the more disastrous it will be on the world.
