So I was unsure of something. With summer time coming and camping trips planned I want to know if ccw is allowed at lakes where they state no firearms at the entrence? Like arcadia or thunderbird. And then if it is within my rights does this prevent me from entering the buildings such as the bathroom/shower?

Is this written somewhere and I have overlooked it? Or should I contact the head leo of the area or what?

I remember them talking about this in the CCW class and I believe if it's a state lake you can carry, but God save you if you got beer in the boat.

I'd check the OSBI website for the updated laws though ... My memory is sketchy at best.

My first response would be yes, you are permitted to carry. I am not sure how a city can prohibit carry in a place that is otherwise permitted by state law. That might be a"lawyer" question.

"B. For purposes of paragraphs 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 of subsection A of this section, the prohibited place does not include and specifically excludes the following property:

4. Any property designated by a city, town, county, or state, governmental authority as a park, recreational area, or fairgrounds; provided nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to authorize any entry by a person in possession of a concealed handgun into any structure, building, or office space which is specifically prohibited by the provisions of subsection A of this section."

That was my take on it as well but I wanted a second opinion. I was pretty sure the no firearms was aimed towards the average hunter/gunowner not us permit holders... I may still call the LEOs in the area too. I really don't want a hassel over it you know.

If you do ask an Edmond cop, make sure you say something like:

"Is legal concealed carry permitted at Arcadia Lake"

If they say no, then respond:

"I just wanted to check because the statute seems to say that legal carry in a city owned recreation area is permitted?"

Would probably be hard to water ski with a gun tucked into your bathing suit anyways... I guess you could keep in a ziplock with a floater. heh :)

You could probably email the OSBI and ask them if you wanted. I've emailed them a few times over the years with questions and they've always been really good about replying quickly with solid information.

Agreed, EXCEPT they won't be the ones trying to arrest poor little Iggie for unlawful carry

No, but he could then act like that dude in the YouTube video and starting quoting law at them until they slink away in fear of his leet law knowledge.

Lol skiing is easy ziplock rubberbands and body part of your choice... I personally like to attach some paracord and a floaty too.

I will try both emailing osbi and contacting local leo... I've been tazed voulentarily not sure I wanna do that again... plus I'm not sure I could win an argument under stress id probally refer to the law about eating hamburgers while walking backwards on Tuesday.

Ps fat guys shouldn't ski that's why tubing was invented... lol

Hah!

CCW is legal on GRDA controlled lakes, but you may double check @ some of the state parks and stuff. I am not totally sure of the regs on Corps of Engineers lakes.

If you carry your gun at the lake and don't have to use it, no one will know. Would you rather be answering to St. Peter or the Law at this stage in your life??

Personally, I want to mount an M60 on my canoe. I'll make those SOB's learn just who has the right of way!

Always wear your PFD, don't imbide ethanol while boating or carrying, and don't drink the Sterno! Methanol and ethanol are not the same!

Tally ho!

Ummm ill be your gunner:) I don't drink and drive, shoot, boat, cellphone, or talk lol mostly if I do drink its drink and sit on my rear in front of a tele. And that happens maybe 6times a year.

I get what your saying I'm just a by the book kind of guy. Rather know then not know.

I called the ranger @ thunderbird last year and asked if I could lawfully carry at the lake for our upcoming boat trip. He said yes, I could have my gun on me anyone except inside ANY buildings there. Including bathroom.
On the boat and water/shore is fine. So I have been carrying up there since.

That's what I thought. But really wanted to be sure. Thanks.
