So I'm going to build a Caspian Single Stack for my next gun.. That being said my dad and I thought that shooting minor wouldn't hurt. I'll list some reasons..

1. Recoil management
2. Points don't matter if you shoot all As
3. Let's face it. I shoot way too fast so speed is okay
4. The extra capacity per mag

I'd just like your opinions on this

I have a 9mm ss I hate shooting it scoring minor compared to major. you did not see very many minor in the top at ss nationals.

In 9mm Mike..

The thought behind it is that if you are shooting with a handicap that you will work to overcome that handicap it it will make a more accurate shooter out of you.

So you need to trick yourself into performing up to high expectations?

You dont need gimmicks, you just need will and determination. Stuff you already have.

I could be totally wrong but I don't think shooting 9mm in single stack will save you enough mag changes over a .40 to justify it, you only get 1 more bullet. You mentioned recoil management with a heavy gun but SS has weight requirements.

That's all true.. I think 40 is the way to go but the extra 2 rounds in the mag with a 9 would be nice..

And I handle recoil very well with a 40 so its not a big deal for the recoil.. I'll prolly just go 40 and shoot Major

At the time this initally came up, your recoil management wasnt what it is now. Not even close. You can handle major loads with no problem.

As for a fun little experiment, shoot Arcadia this weekend in L10 (load to 8)and declare minor. You can get some idea of the points drop by comparing your scores with those shooting SS. It won't be an exact head to head comparison, but you will get the idea.

This is a good time for you. You're learning. Your getting bigger and your legs faster while the rest of us are going the other way. And you got started young. Some of the guys on here would be complete freaks if they got started when they were 15.

Dad votes stick with your M&P in Production. Don't look for the latest and greatest. Alot of times its the guy driving the car, not the car, that wins the race.

And quit building dream guns in your head. I know your dad, and he is poor! :D
