I definitely be there with my Snubby and my Revo. I gotta start working with the stuff I carry daily.

Maybe you should do a "battlefield pickup."

I've been contemplating a match where you didn't shoot your own gun. For example, for those wanting practical reasons to do certain things, you fly to another state on business, your ride discreetly gives you a gun totallt new to you and two reloads to get you thru your visit. (Ayoob does this often)

Or, you're unarmed and find need to be armed. So you take the first gun you find or have handed to you.

Or, you like a challenge and want to see how well you can instantly adapt to a strange/different gun.

If we were to do this, it would be purely voluntary, of course, and not everyone should do it.

I envision folks pairing up and at the match, give their buddy the gun, mags/speedloaders and ammo they'll shoot the match with. The gun given should be one the owner would: use himself and be comfortable giving it to a trained loved one for defense. IE; don't try and screw your buddy by handing him or her a .454

I think it would be the most beneficial to not reveal a specific gun model until at the match.

I wouldn't loan a 1911 with a light trigger to a dedicated revolver shooter.

Pairs should discuss what action types they'd be comfortable with.

If Jesse were my buddy, (I wish, now that he's big time) I have several DA revolvers I'd let him use, from .38 to .45 Colt. Which one would he get? He'd find out at about 5:30 match night.

Anyone intrigued by this idea?

I've got a jennings .25 auto that'd be pertfect for Jesse.
He could leave the gun holstered & just chunk the ammo at the targets.

But would YOU use that gun for defense? Would you loan it to your Mom/son/daughter for defense?

Maybe we need a "Part 2," where you need to shoot the gun you lent at the next match.

Or a battlefield pick up on a stage. For example, you leave your carry gun in the car to go into a bank. Someone walks in, shoots the off duty Moore Police Officer who was surfing the net instead of watching those coming into the bank :) now its up to you to retrieve the downed officers weapon and save the day. Oh yeah, it has a stovepipe jam you must clear first.

I remember a time long ago, when Jesse was going to shoot this match with his LCP drawn from his sock. :). Now that he's famous, it's a full sized gun with red dot.

The creativity is flowing at Heartland. It's freaking awesome. I want to shoot this match badly but my sisters birthday dinner will prevent it. Unless I can force everyone to eat and go in an hour I'm SOL. May swing by afterwards to watch and assist in the end.

I'm sure you have heard the phrase "too big for your britches"? Well I got too big for my socks.

i like that idea, but we would need a teller that i could hide behind in the fetal position crying in fear for it to be realistic..

Personally I like to shoot my own guns at matches.

As does anyone else. But there's that whole challenge thing.

If we set this up like this: we pair up. You use my gun, I use yours. Next match, we each shoot the our own lent gun for the same match set up. Wouldn't it be interesting if I shot your gun better than you did?

But let's table this for now. I'm thinking October/November would work best for this.

In April, we will have the 1911 Single Stack Vlasic
