I drove to Canton Lake this past weekend. I was thinking that there would be lots of water and the north side of the lake would be back to its water level of a few years ago. The boat ramp that we used was probably half a mile away from water. I was disappointed. I really need a boat, but I don't have a place to put it. That's one of the draw backs of being an urban dweller. How have you experienced duck hunters handled the logistics of storing a boat?

I don't know what kind of conditions you hunt under, but some around here use a pirogue or canoe. But that wouldn't be a choice for open water. Any flooded timber or sloughs to hunt? Then there is always the dreaded lease....

I haven't hunted any flooded timber around here. We are lucky that the lakes are starting to fill back up. I do like the idea of a canoe.

Canton WMA and areas surrounding it have a HUGE population of hogs. Just sayin...

Got drawn for a gun deer hunt a few years back and my BIL saw one that had to have been pushing 500lbs. The wardens asked why he didn't shoot it. We told them that there was no way we could get it out. They told us to shoot all we saw, the buzzards and coyotes have to eat too. Then they proceeded to tell us about how many hundreds an adjoining farmer had trapped that year. They hate them with a passion because of the damage they do and gave us the green light to go completely medieval on hogs.
