I debated selling my whole rifle for a precision build but decided to just swap the upper.

Instead of getting a pre-built upper, I decided to get the pieces and parts.

I bought a Del Ton chrome bolt carrier assembly. The price was great and I read that chrome carriers were easier to clean. For the same price I could have gotten a plain parkerized Bravo Company bolt, but I decided to give Del Ton a chance. It was worth it so far. As long as the metal isn't pitted, it's been magnetic particle inspected, and the gas key is staked well, then it should be good.

Here's what I've got so far. The barrel, rail, and parts are on the way from Washington State as we speak...should arrive Friday or Saturday.

Got some more stuff put together.

Installed YHM extended take down pins. Put in a Rainier Arms 1:8 twist 16" match barrel and a Samson Evolution 12.37" rail. Got to pick up the mid-length gas tube Monday but I have the low-pro gas block waiting on it.

What's on the end of the barrel?

A KIES Blast Master Linear Compensator. Bought it for two reasons: It directs muzzle blast away from the shooter, and it does not need to be indexed to the barrel. I remove it for thread on suppressed shooting and don't want to be tossing crush washers like they are going out of style.

Thanks for the compliments.

The ACOG is a TA11-J, 3.5x35mm. I used a TA31 (4x32mm) in Iraq and I found, while it worked extremely well, it was too "stubby". On the TA11, the fiber optics are longer which helps it collect more light, and I think it's more proportioned, and you can't tell a difference in the .5x of magnification between the two. I traded in my Aimpoint and sold some other gear to raise the cash for it...otherwise I wouldn't have dropped $1200 on this. I would definitely go for an ACOG in future...once you have one you don't want anything else.

I am debating a one o'clock mount from Daniel Defense to mount a Primary Arms micro dot reflex sight. I debated iron sights but the offset sights I've found are $200+. The PA setup will cost around $80 for the optic and $40 for the mount.
