Buffer for high velocity ammo?

I have a Fostech .22. When I fire hi velocity (1470 fps plus) the bolt catches brass every 4-5 rounds. Do I need a lighter or heavier buffer? Or possibly something else?

Are you saying you get a stove pipe with the bolt not completely ejecting the spent brass?

Yes. Doesn't happen with lower velocity ammo. I checked and the buffer is 4.6 oz. I was surprised it was so heavy. I weighed on a gram scale.
