Browning Hi Power gunsmith recommendation

Yeah I would prefer local (1) bc I don't want to pay a ton to ship it (Bar-Sto can do it for $25 plus $85 for shipping back pls whatever it would cost to ship to to them) and (2) I like to support the local guy when I can.

I dont know anyone off hand that I could recommend, I have build a few high powers before, but no expert. the sear is a little tricky on those pistols.

Have you thought about doing it yourself?
If its minor fitting, it shouldn't take much unless it will require milling.
What kind of fitting are you looking at?

From what I can tell the feed ramp is too long. Is there a way to put something on the barrel (ink or powder) that will rub off on the slide/frame where there is contact? The only way I know the feed ramp is hitting is because it left a small mark in the frame.

use a sharpy and mark the upper lugs, feed ramp, and cam lock area, it will show you a contact pattern.

Big thanks to everyone who contributed. I was able to "gunsmith" (aka dremel) it myself. Thanks for the encouragement twss and thanks for the sharpie tip Durning! The new Bar-Sto barrel fits great, there is no play at all in the slide/barrel anymore and the action is smoother than ever. I can't wait to get it out on the range and see how she runs with the upgrade. Here is a picture of her for anyone who is interested.

Good deal! Its kind of fun to do your own on occasion. There is certainly a need for a good Smith on occasion though.

Nice looking pistol BTW!

That sort of makes me miss my Hi-Power. The only thing I don't miss is the hammer bite.

Another BHP recommendation that was given to me was http://www.fletcherc...s.com/index.htm . Last time I contacted C&S it was 8-9 months wait time until they asked for your pistol.

BTW Mitch, my HP has NEVER bitten me. If you love the gun it will love you back.

Tally ho!

You hold your guns differently than I do, Kevin. I go higher up the skirt than you.
