I broke ground on the 1000 yard berm today. It is being constructed out of telephone poles and dirt. I've ordered a full size IPSC target for it. I worked on it all afternoon after i worked on one of my tractors that I have in 4 million pieces. Forgot to get a pic of the progress of the berm. I'll take pics tomorrow for sure. Won't be able to use it until I get my alfalfa cut because you have to be in the far corner of it.

1,000 yds is a whole different world. I was very humbled the first time I shot a 1,000 yd match. I didn't figure it would be much different than the 600 yd matches I'd been shooting. I quickly learned that my wind reading skills were not what I thought they were.
There is a little bit of jealousy here too. The closest 1,000 yd range I have access to is at the Zink Ranch north of Sand Springs. And the 1,000 yd range there is only open during 3 matches a year.
Maybe sooner than that.
I've shot at 1000 once. You are so right on the humbling. The wind is a whole nother' beast at 1000.

I just set up a man size target that is painted white that I have cut out of mild steel for .22lr and went out to 1k and it sticks out like a sore thumb. I don't think the shade will be much problem, but if it does I'll just break out the chainsaw and do some tree trimmin'. The horizontal poles are 15' wide and its about 7-8 feet tall
