Bought my first piece of reloading equipment

Well after looking around and saying I was going to start reloading I went and bought my first piece of equipment. I researched and talked to Frost and settled on a the very best that money could buy.

The ABC's of reloading, now to read it and get a clearer understanding I hope of the reloading side of shooting. Although after hours of research it doesn't seem quite as intimidating. As I read it I am sure I will have questions that I will post on here in hopes of getting some straight answers from those who are doing it and not just someone who read about it on another forum.

It really is not hard and is a good way to pass time.
I am glad to hear you are moving forward.
I have not loaded rifle in years but there are some pro's here that can answer any questions you may have about that aspect.
Compared to some of these guys I am an amateur.

Well I have the 5.56 brass but if a 40 s&w is easier to learning I will try it and just buy some brass. It seems like a process that just needs the steps followed. Trying to skip steps might hurt me.

I personally like the pistol ccartages best. I've been loading 223 for the past several months and I just can't get into it. I think its the trimming thats getting the best of me.

Look up shootist in the member list and send him a PM. He is an expert in my book. He has been reloading for over 40 years and got me started in it two years ago. For a small fee he will give you advice on what to buy. He will give you a list with part numbers of everything you need and when it comes in he will come over to your place and help you set it up and spend the day with you teaching you how to reload. I think he is charging $75 for the class but his after hours help is worth $300. I call and bug him all the time and he always has an answer for me. Just a thought. If you want to do it on your own then more power to you.

HHB, thanks for the suggestion. Trying this thing alone does not sound like a wise idea to me when there are so many helpful folks around here.

All of my equipment is RCBS. I have no problems. I had a redding die that had to be sent back to redding because it was sizing everything all kind of crazy. Still havent got a call back from redding yet.

Frost you better get in here PDQ before he drops big money on that RCBS turret. For that kinda money I'd look at the Dillon line up.
That said I have a small RCBS single stage press that I still use for all my rifle loading.

The rcbs looked pricey until I realized I would get a$100 rebate. Plus it looked to be about ready to go. If the Lee will hold up I'm all for saving money or having more money for bullet components.

You really need to look at the Dillon Presses
You cannot beat their guarantee.
I sent a 650 I bought in pieces off the floor of a garage to them as a box of parts and they sent it back refurbed and ready to go.
All it cost me was shipping.

Fast, and durable.
I don't know that I recommend a progressive as a first press but Dillons phone support rocks!
