Been there done that. I had a 12 gauge he had a 38 spec. You think about it later..if all goes well. You are mainly pissed off...not pissed on. Don't ever want to do that crap again.

I don't know I don't take to kindly to having a gun pointed at my face.....so I don't know....but I would be willing to bet I am enough of a smart a$$ to ask to see the search warrant. And slam the door....not saying it would work out well but.

I wouldn't consider that being a smart ass at all. It's the law of the land, so all should follow it regardless of their desire to catch an alleged bomber. Not opening the door in the first place would be a better option I suppose.

I agree that asking for a warrant is reasonable. They may barge in anyways under exigent circumstances but if you don't ask you're guaranteed to have your rights raped.

People give up their rights voluntarily all the time. It takes courage and knowledge to exercise them.

I would say, "Good evening, what can I do for you?"

And then when they ask to search my home I would say, "I don't consent to any searches of my home without a warrant. I don't mind if you look around the back yard and check my shed. If my wife and I see something suspicious, what is the best way to get in contact with you?"

My fourth amendment protection is strongest within my home. The protection on the "curtilage" is weaker and they can almost certainly search the yard & shed even if I don't consent so why not cooperate a little bit there? Moreover, I need to check the shed anyways. I might as well let the tactical team do that for me.

By ending with a question I maintain control of the conversation in a non-threatening way.

I'm guessing that almost all of the people we see having their homes tossed consented to the search. The tactical team probably showed up, pounded on the door, and shouted, "POLICE! Let us in, we want to search the premises, and we want you out of the house!" And most homeowners probably gave consent and voluntarily left their home, which means they voluntarily surrendered their rights. There is a video floating around where a news reporter interviewed some folks who politely declined to give the cops permission and they just thanked the homeowner and moved on.

Its unclear why you think I have any interest in your opinion, or ridiculous prattlings. Before you get ignored further, why don't you give us your tactical plan. What would you do? Is this where you use your shoot to wound skills?

Words of wisdom...

If you poke the bear, you will get its attention- and a response that you may or may not like.

Food for thought, as your action certainly got a reaction, eh? ;)

Now that we've been given an example of failed reading comprehension, back to the subject of Boston.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick announced the decision to lock down Watertown and the surrounding areas, including Boston, at a dawn news conference Friday.

"We're asking people to shelter in place ? in other words, to stay indoors with their doors locked and not to open the door for anyone other than a properly identified law enforcement officer," he said.

I don't consider pounding on the door with dangerous, scary looking "assault weapons" pointed at the occupants to be an acceptable method of identifying oneself as a law enforcement officer. I guess it would be ok to ignore them, right Mayor/Governor? I wonder how the Mayor and/or Governor feels about his failed search, and that bomber #2 was found shortly after he called it off.

As a side note, I've seen several interviews where the mayor refers to "his intelligence" and "we may not get to interview the suspect" like he's in the loop with the FBI. It's kinda funny to watch him flounder.

He(and Menino) was(were) looking for every bit of PR he(they) could get. Many people up here saw it for what it was, it was talked about at length on the local radio stations too. As for the manner in which the LEOs/FBI/ATF/National Guard checked the houses? Far from appropriate methods(at least on that video), it wouldn't fly too well with MANY citizens if that was their continued procedure. Hopefully they were a little more diplomatic with the majority of their searching- if not, I am sure we will be hearing and seeing more about it.

A lot of those same Demokrats love to sue up here, and you could run a Casino with all of the race cards that get played here every single day.

Long live the Socialist Republic of Moscowchusetts!
