Has anyone here purchased one?

From my research it looks like since I'm active duty Navy I can participate in this discount program. Prices start at $398 for 9mm models with stock sights.

I've heard about the program but never purchased one.

Do you have a question about the special offer or something?

I have bought a couple from Lawmens in Columbia. Nothing to it really. All the same paperwork as a normal firearm purchase plus they make a photo copy of your credentials.

I was just curious if anyone had personally purchased one through this program, and verify that it wasn't some internet rumor.

Thanks!

Its not a rumor. I transfer all the time from ed's public safety. You buy from them, shipping is $20, My transfer is $15, Its still cheaper than driving to columbia and paying tax.

Awesome! I'll be giving them a call in the next couple weeks then.

I'm in the Upstate and just bought (but have not yet received) one. Here's what I've learned: Glock offers Blue label guns at a significant discount to active/retired military, LE, and folks in a few other categories, with proper credentials. This program is ONLY available through a retailer who is a Glock distributor. Retailers who are not distributors pay full price for their Glocks, and in turn can't discount the price to you. The catch is this~~~Glock (I assume) offers this deal as sort of a "thank you" for being the good guys out there, but they make no profit on these guns and thus they are the last to be built and shipped. I had to pay in full in advance, but am now waiting on the gun to be delivered, and "when" is anybody's guess. Another catch is Glock only allows one Blue label gun per person per year. That makes sense to me and I don't have a problem with that. And BTW, Blue labels come with three mags. You should take advantage if you're in the market for one.

If the gun isn't available from the first place you contacted then you should have gone through another Glock Distributor.

Ed's Public Safety - GA
GT Distributors - GA / TX
Lawmen's - SC / NC

This is the first time I've participated in this program. Are you saying this is a retailer's (distributor's) problem? They told me Glock was backordered trying to fill military/LE orders making me believe the wait for the pistol was due to Glock, not them. I'd like to know if they hoodwinked me!

I can't speak to anyone's deception but I know that two days ago I ordered a Glock through this program and it was sitting at my FFL yesterday. (Thanks, HHB Guns!)

I purchased a Glock at GT Distributors' storefront in Austin, TX when I was still Active Duty and know they have a location in GA, too. I personally know of three Glock LE/.MIL discounting distributors and any one of them would ship the gun to your local FFL for around $20 extra. Factor in the transfer fee of $10-25 and you're still coming out ahead of the $525-550 retail on Glocks.

As for why you're waiting... it may be the specific model you want.

To give 'em the benefit of the doubt, you may have hit the nail on the head. My order is for a 23 and I do recall them stating that had I wanted a less popular model, they could get it right away. I didn't inquire about what extra fees they were charging (shipping, transfer, etc.) but I thought $477 out the door was acceptable. I'll post when it comes in, just to let anyone else who's interested know the wait time on the popular models.

Not to get off topic here, but any Glock owners have real life personal experience with Streamlight TLR-2 or TLR-4's, and which would you recommend for a sub-compact?

The fact that your Glock didn't cost $398 is an obvious clue that you didn't purchase it from a participating dealer in Glocks Homeland Security Discount program. There are many gunstores that discount Glocks on their own but Firefighters, Police, Paramedics, Military Personnel rate a discounted price of $398 for the "normal, basic" models, i.e. 17, 19, 22, 23

I was going to let this debate die a quiet death, but I promised I would post when the gun came in. Model 23 arrived at the store today (6/12) and I took possession of it. Wait time since purchase-about three weeks, but was told someone ordered one yesterday and it came in today. Simply a matter of when Glock shipped their guns.

After completing the paperwork I asked the guy their cost and what additional fees they charged. Was told shipping is $20 or $25 but there were no other fees. I probably had to pay sales tax, but how do you get out of paying that? Then I shared that I "talked to someone in Charleston" who said he could get them for $398. Their response was that Glock recently raised their price about $50 during the spate of backorders they had. Doing a rough calculation, $398+$50(new price point?)+$20(shipping)+sales tax=roughly the $477 I paid in Greenville. My son bought a blue label 23 in Texas (U. S. Army Infantryman) and said he paid the same price I did. You walk out the door with a Glock for $398, more power to you! That ain't the price I'm seeing anywhere else.

In the end, one happy Glock owner with plenty of 180grJHPs on hand and I'm an accurate, experienced shooter. I'm fine, thanks!
