I have a stainless Lone Wolf Longslide for a Glock I picked up in a trade.
It is coated with their black oxide finish, I would like to get it and the barrel back to the stainless finish.
Any thoughts on the best way to accomplish this?

If its an epoxy coating, it might be possible.. If its melonite, then you probably cannot remove the coating.

If the coating is missing from some areas, it was likely sprayed on, but if its uniform over the entire contours of the part, its likely a modern blueing technique they use to make SS parts self-lubricating, and even harder than SS alone.. one likely finish is melonite, which has recently become very popular.

if it's the Caswell type blacking then it's just a type of tool black and can be removed with weak acid, vinegar, Birch Wood gun blue remover. You may have to let it soak and once it's stripped the metal will be very dull light grey not white like polish Stainless. You could have the parts bead blasted if a flat finish is what you want but the best results is to find a pistol smith that does bluing as he'll know how to polish the part correctly.

haha, I just noticed how old this thread was , sorry.
