Wanted to through this out there.
For those of us that have a nice daily walk back from their mail box here is my experience yesterday.
Just like every day, I opened the mail box, reached in to gather mail in a bundle and walked back inside to my office and threw or flopped mail on top of my desk. After the mail rebounded from the flop up jumped a Black Widow Spider and started running across the cover of my new Front Sight magazine straight toward me. As it got closer I got louder until I flattened it.
I thought it was a Black Widow but to confirm I googled it and found the 2nd article which said Black Widow Bites in Oklahoma are on the rise and there is a lot of them this year due to weather. They like crickets which were on the news last week about the large gatherings of crickets.

I've killed several out at the house. They appear to be multiplying. For the most part they have been in the garage and barn, luckily haven't seen any in the house. I spray pretty regularly. It's called Home Defense I believe. Works really well and it kills scorpions.

I've never seen a black widow in my life until this year. I've killed 3 so far along with two tarantulas. One tarantula got into the pool, the other I hit with the mower last night. I don't normally kill them.
What's the deal with crickets? They sprayed at the plant two weeks ago. We have tens of thousands of dead crickets now. Some of the smaller rooms stink with the smell of rotting crickets.

I've killed at least 3 widows, and seen a couple more that I couldn't get.

The paper wasps are awful this year too.

Come to think of it, all the bugs have been bad this year.

don't normally mind spiders, but tarantulas are a whole other story... When I was stationed out at Camp Pendleton they were everywhere...the little bastards would jump up and let the wind carry them...ever been out digging a fighting hole and have a flying tarantula the size of a saucer smack you in the head? not my idea of a fun time...and they are a lot more "meaty" than your average spider, it'a like stepping on a squirrel with 8 legs...

We get some tarantulas out here from time to time. I have a picture somewhere when I let one crawl up my arm. They won't do anything to you if you stay calm. I always let them be.

I've killed 3 black widows and 2 fiddlebacks along with probably a dozen or so wolf spiders at my house. I've also had quite a few Orb Web spiders. They're definitely bad this year. I know the wolf and orb Webb's are harmless, but I still don't like em.

If it has sharp pointy things at either end and its in my house it dies. I have killed probably half a dozen fiddle backs this year.

I seen my First black widow of the year this morning dropping from the overhang on the other side of the window at work
